2) What this policy covers

This policy explains what information Strut processes, how it is used, whether it is shared, and how you can contact us about privacy questions or requests.

3) Data we process (and what we do not collect)

Strut is designed to help you manage screen time using your walking activity. The app processes the following:

  • HealthKit step data: Strut reads step count data from Apple Health to calculate your earned screen time minutes. This data is processed on-device and is not uploaded to our servers.
  • Screen Time / Family Controls: Strut uses Apple's Family Controls framework to block and unblock apps based on your earned minutes. The list of apps you choose to block is stored on-device.
  • Subscription/paywall status: If you purchase a subscription, the app receives entitlement status (for example, active/inactive) to unlock premium features.
  • Support communications: If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message.

Strut does not upload your step data, app usage history, or blocked app lists to external servers.

3A) HealthKit Data

Strut uses Apple HealthKit to read your step count data. This information is used solely to calculate how many screen time minutes you've earned through walking.

We do not store, upload, or share your HealthKit data with any third parties. All step data processing happens on-device.

We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than the core app functionality of converting steps to screen time.

3B) Screen Time / Family Controls

Strut uses Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks to block and unblock apps on your device. Your app selection choices are stored locally on your device and synced via App Groups to the extension.

We do not collect or upload information about which apps you block or your app usage patterns.

4) Accounts

Strut does not require you to create an account.

5) Subscriptions

Strut may offer subscriptions. Purchases and subscription management are handled by:

  • Apple (App Store): processes billing for App Store subscriptions and maintains payment information. We do not receive your full payment details.
  • Superwall (paywall provider): used to display the paywall and manage subscription entitlements. The app receives entitlement status so it can unlock premium features.

6) Third parties / sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We do not share your HealthKit data or Screen Time data with third parties.

For subscriptions/paywalls, Apple and Superwall process purchase and subscription-related information as described in Section 5.

7) Data retention

  • HealthKit step data: processed on-device when calculating earned minutes and not retained beyond the current session.
  • App preferences: stored locally on-device and can be deleted by uninstalling the app.
  • Support emails: retained only as long as needed to respond and maintain reasonable records, then deleted or anonymized where feasible.
  • Purchase/subscription records: retained by Apple (App Store) and/or Superwall as part of subscription management.

8) Your choices

  • HealthKit permission: you can grant or revoke Health access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Strut. If Health access is not granted, the app cannot count your steps.
  • Screen Time permission: you can manage Screen Time access in iOS Settings. If permission is revoked, app blocking features will not work.
  • Access or deletion requests: email support@strut-app.com. We may ask for information needed to locate relevant records. Some records (such as App Store purchases) are controlled by Apple.

9) Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information we process. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date above when changes are made.
